* Dubailand signs up Dh30b worth of investments

| Dubailand, Dubai's Disney-type mega tourism project, has signed up more than Dh30 billion in investments in 25 projects in less than two years, said a senior official.
This is about 60 per cent of the projected investment of Dh50 billion in 50 leisure projects. The investments have all been announced since the inauguration of the project in October 2003. The Dubai government is investing more than Dh3 billion in infrastructure. Salem Bin Dasmal, Dubailand's chief executive, told Gulf News yesterday, "We have already signed up 25 projects. We are currently negotiating with a number of investors on projects and will announce five more projects before the end of the year. "We still have about half of the 3 billion square feet of land to market, that would attract about Dh20 billion more. We will eventually attract more than Dh50 billion when we close deals for all Dubailand's 50 projects." Saudi investors Al Sharq Development yesterday announced a Dh7 billion project, Aqua Dunya, that will involve three hotels, two theme parks and 3,400 residential apartments in Dubailand. |
