* Dubai 's population crosses 1 million

The Dubai Municipality has officially announced that the city’s population stands at 1.1 million, as stated by Aref Al Mahiri, Statistics Centre Manager, Dubai Municipality. The gender break-up shows 74% are males and 26% are females. Other statistics revealed showed that there have been 1,158 construction projects during the first 6 months of 2005 at a cost of AED 236.3 billion.

It has also been revealed that the UAE has one of the highest population growth rates in the world, estimated at 5.6%, and 45% of the UAE population is less than 15 years of age. These facts have been disclosed in a recent UAE human resources report that was released by the National Human Resource Development and Employment Authority, Tanmia.
